extend the life of your electrical capital equipment
Make-to-Order Engineering and Manufacturing
This is the core value and light bulb idea moment for Metalcontact. Using current materials, manufacturing processes and state of the art testing to manufacture bespoke spare parts for vintage low and medium voltage electrical switchgear, extending [and quite often doubling] their service life. Contact parts, insulation elements and enclosures, busway, mechanical actuators, braided connectors, springs, control coils and solenoids. This is just but a sample of the 8000+ bespoke components we have manufactured.

Products and Services
Metalcontact refurbishes any equipment in electrical distribution and control. Power circuit breakers, busway, disconnect switches, contactors ranging up to 15 kv. Metalcontact manufactures spare parts for elevator and lift controls, DC electrical motors, and electric powered trains and subways. We follow up the manufacturing process and refurbishing services with the most rigorous performance, conductivity and insulation tests under ISO 9001 quality control. We also sell and install the entire aftermarket offer from General Electric Industrial.
replacement contacts
As the name of the company suggests Metalcontact manufactures standard replacement contact sets for hundreds of electrical and distribution equipment. Additionally, we manufacture insulation parts and enclosures, mechanical actuators and structural parts for electrical applications, full range of springs, and many other parts. Often combined with our refurbishing services to provide high quality, high performing overhaul to electrical equipment for protection, control and distribution. Custom engineered parts for applications in low, medium and high voltage. We maintain stock of contact parts for vintage elevators and lifts. The latest addition to our offer is brush holder manufacturing for electrical DC motor applications.
Refurbishing services
A logical evolution of the spare part manufacturing, we undergo a thorough, frame off, complete restoration. We examine every single nut and bolt, replace or refurbish accordingly often using materials and processes unavailable when the original equipment was manufactured. Once finished, we conduct a very comprehensive set of tests to ensure that the client gets the electrical protection and control originally intended. We have restored thousands of devices in low and medium voltage applications, molded case circuit breakers, power circuit breakers, starters, contactors, switches, switchgear panels, specialty controls for elevators, lifts and cranes. The list is endless..
general electric aftermarket products
General Electric manufactured and installed hundreds of thousands of AK and AKR circuit breakers in the twentieth century. This family of circuit breakers were and are the work horse of many electrical installations. The original electro-mechanical protection in these breakers can be replaced with solid state electronic protection for improved accuracy and added remote communications and operation funtionalities. We also offer Spectra series busway, PowerVac vacuum bottle replacement, installation and calibration, and spectra series low voltage panel add ons.
testing services
Metalcontact has built a state-of-the-art laboratory to test every single parameter needed to ensure proper operation for any refurbished device before they are sent off to the customers. Tests for electrical insulation, current injection tests for protection equipment. actuation and trip timing per phase, control signal tests and many more. Metalcontact extends this services to use in the field in a predictive manner to assess electrical equipment is operating under safe parameters and able to protect expensive machinery as intended.
